How to prepare for your first high-altitude journey
Altitude rewards patience. Here is how we pace, pack and prepare for a Himalayan trip.
The Himalayas ask for a different kind of attention. Conditions change, distances feel different and the most memorable moments rarely announce themselves.
Start with good preparation, then leave a little room for surprise. Pack in layers, drink more water than you think you need and respect the slow work of acclimatisation. A steady pace is not only safer—it lets you notice the juniper scent, the shifting light and the conversations that happen along the trail.
Our best advice is simple: arrive curious and resist the urge to rush. The mountains will do the rest.
